   Holiday in Gargano is always a suggestive experience. Our proposal is to make it warm and comfortable. Imagine a sober, elegant building of the XIX century, situated on the hill facing the sea . Imagine around it olive-groves, the characteristic fragrance, that only this very land can have. This is VILLA BASSO, for the traveller who appreciates fine taste, a real historical character, and a home away from home.

Surrounded by many points of interest, such as the Archangel Michael Basilica in Monte Sant’Angelo , the Umbra forest , the white high cliffs of the coast nearby , the house makes a perfect base from which to explore the area. It is very nicely suited to simply relaxing in a quiet area. Although the beaches (both rock and sand) are not far from here, and there are hill towns and a plenty to discover in the valley and nearby mountains.

Forty years ago, this beautiful old house was the set of the movie "The High Bright Sun "with Dirk Bogarde, with Puglia standing in for the movie’s setting of Cyprus. Now the house has been restored with the care and the passion that only those who love a building like this can feel. .The villa is equipped with every comfort and furnished with taste and style. Garden with olive groves, flowers and self planted vegetation.

"PANORAMIC SUITE" with rooftop terrace might be the ideal place for honeymooners or for those who wish they are : a spacious bedroom with double bed and armchairs, a large hand-painted tiled bathroom with shower and window and a cosy fully equipped kitchenette in a turret . Air conditioning , washing machine and indipendent heating provided.
The suite has been completely restored whilst respecting the ancient style of materials and furniture.

The terrace is provided of outdoor furniture to eat/seat outside.
The bathroom is lightful and old styled
The kitchenette is very cosy and very well equipped .

"LA TERRAZZA" , ground floor( US first floor) , is another lovely apartment of different size and different sleeping possibilities - up to 4 - that might be rented separately or jointly with the one on the upper level : large bright fully equipped kitchen, comfortable living room with two single sofa beds, double king size bed on the upper mezzanine (screened from view but no door separating ):a real alcove !

This house is in an enchanting and peaceful setting in the heart of Gargano National Park, easily reachable from the main road, and not so far from other tourist destinations such as Valle d'Itria , Vieste, Peschci, San Giovanni Rotondo( a religious site) Monte S. Angelo, Amalfi Coast(2 hours). The nearest beaches are only 1 km from here.
All around ,the green of olive groves and the blue of the sky and the sea.
Wineries, clubs, good restaurants and shopping centre only five minutes drive.
Gargano is a different proposition to the rest of Puglia; a rugged spur jutting out from the coast covered in forests is now a 15,000 hectare nature reserve, the Parco Nazionale di Gargano( www.parcogargano.it) and is home to thousands of different species of flora and fauna, including deer and wildcats.
Also in the park you can visit the Foresta Umbra or "Forest of Shadows", a beautiful blanket of Aleppo pine, oak and beech.
The Gargano is also home to some of Puglia's best beaches. Its capital, Vieste, is a pretty medieval town that gets incredibly busy in the summer .
